Partial root-zone drying (PRD)

Description

Partial root-zone drying (PRD) irrigation technique to increase water use efficiency on smallholder farms in arid and semiarid environments. This involves irrigating half of the crop’s root system while the other half is left to dry, initially starving the roots in order to train plants to use water more efficiently.
